Affordable Housing Assistant Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and organized professional to support the day-to-day operations of an affordable housing community. In this role, you will partner with the property management team to help deliver excellent resident service, maintain compliance with program requirements, and support the financial and operational success of the property. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where professionalism and integrity are essential.
Responsibilities
- Support the property manager in overseeing daily community operations and resident relations.
- Assist with leasing activities, including application processing, move-in coordination, renewals, and waitlist management.
- Help ensure compliance with affordable housing program requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Review resident files and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timely follow-up.
- Respond to resident inquiries and concerns in a professional, courteous, and solution-oriented manner.
- Coordinate with maintenance and vendor partners to support property upkeep and work order resolution.
- Assist with rent collections, delinquency follow-up, notices, and account reconciliations as needed.
- Prepare reports, maintain records, and support audit readiness and file organization.
- Participate in unit inspections, resident recertifications, and turnover processes.
- Contribute to a positive community atmosphere and support resident engagement efforts.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in property management, multifamily housing, or a related customer service role.
- Knowledge of affordable housing programs, compliance requirements, or occupancy standards is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, team members, vendors, and external partners.
- Proficiency with property management software and standard office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing respectful, responsive resident service.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting recertifications, compliance reviews, and file audits.
- Familiarity with leasing, fair housing, and resident retention practices.
- Working knowledge of rent collection procedures and delinquency management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
